LASODA, ROLAC, CCD unite to enhance justice for PWDs in Lagos

The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), in collaboration with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC) programme and the Center for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), have joined forces to promote social cohesion and foster a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The initiative seeks to sensitise individuals, organisations, and communities on the importance of inclusivity and the protection of the rights of PWDs.

Speaking at the one-day capacity-building programme at the Shomolu Local Council, the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, explained that the event forms part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusive policies that guarantee equal access to social justice for PWDs.

She noted that the programme would also contribute to reforming the criminal justice system by building bridges for peaceful coexistence, where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive.

According to her, ensuring the economic, social, educational, political, and environmental inclusion of PWDs is key to achieving a more sustainable and equitable society, ultimately improving their overall quality of life.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Shomolu Local Council, Abdullateef Ashimi, pledged to take concrete steps to ensure PWDs can effectively access their rights and entitlements. The event brought together key stakeholders; disability rights advocates, and community leaders.
