Two suspected cult members remanded in Prison

A LAGOS Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Yaba, has ordered the remand of two suspected cultist in prisons custody. The alleged cultists are: Alamu Olaigbe, 29, and Sheriff Oshilaja, 27 respectively.

A LAGOS Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Yaba, has ordered the remand of two suspected cultist in prisons custody. The alleged cultists are: Alamu Olaigbe, 29, and Sheriff Oshilaja, 27 respectively.

The duo were docked before Chief Magistrate Philip Ojo on a three count-charge bordering on conspiracy, causing grievous body harm, and attempted murder.

The offences according to the prosecutor, Mr. Anyanwu Godwin, an Assisrant Superintendent of Police, are punishable under Sections 409, 245 and 228 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

They however pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them. After taken their plea, magistrate Ojo therefore admitted them to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in the like sum.

He also ordered the sureties to produce evidence of three years tax payable to the Lagos state government; evidence of means of livelihood, and have their residences verified by the court’s prosecutor. The Chief Magistrate however ordered that both Alamu and Sheriff be remanded in prisons custody pending the time they are able to perfect the bail conditions and adjourned till August 24, 2015.
