Expert tasks journalists on inclusive reporting, developmental journalism

Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, News Central, Kayode Akintemi, has stressed the need for journalists to engage in developmental journalism and tell stories of the under served.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Plateau State Governor Caleb , Akintemi stated, “News Central has chosen apath of reporting stories that matter and has also decided to focus on developmental journalism. We are working assiduously to ensure that Nigerians who are often unheard are given a voice, so that Nigeria and Africa will be the better for it.

We have come to Jos, Plateau state, to amplify the voices of the people and the Middle Belt that have suffered fatal losses and experienced trauma that normally nations at war may note vensee.”

Responding, Mutfwang noted the time has come to disaggregate different tendencies within the country, adding that narratives must change to him,” I want to tell you that the homogeneous communities of the Middle Belt have quietly decided that in 2027, they will take their destinies in to their hands, and many people will not be comfortable with it, particularly the political elite.”

The governor didn’t shy away frombroader political themes, dismissing opposition critiques and emphasizing that the issues are more complex than they ascribed. Governor Mutfwang described the attacks in areas like Mangu, Bokkos, Birkin Ladi, and the like as pure acts of terrorism and promised to put an end to terrorism in the state.
