‎Digital financial services provider, Moniepoint Inc, has announced the launch of applications for the 2026 edition of its Women in Tech internship programme, marking its sixth year of expanding opportunities for women in Nigeria’s technology sector.

‎Unveiled under the theme “There Is Space for You,” the campaign directly targets women across the country who possess talent and ambition but face barriers to accessing opportunities in tech.

‎The initiative comes against the backdrop of persistent gender imbalance in the industry. Despite recent progress, women account for only about 25 per cent of Nigeria’s tech workforce, even though they represent nearly half of the population and about 22 per cent of annual STEM graduates. Moniepoint said its Women in Tech programme has, over the past five years, focused on bridging this gap by creating access and building capacity.

‎Building on the success of last year’s “Dream 15” cohort — its largest intake so far — the 2026 edition will further expand, offering more roles across high-demand fields such as Cloud Engineering, Frontend and Backend Engineering, Data Engineering, Systems Administration, Product Management, Information Security, Mobile Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering.

‎Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary, work tools, branded materials, and mentorship from experienced professionals within the organisation. High-performing interns may also be offered full-time roles, continuing a pathway that has already shaped the careers of several past participants.

The programme’s impact is reflected in the journeys of former interns who have transitioned into full-time employees, referred to internally as “DreamMakers.” Among them are Uzoamaka Anyaegbuna, Adaeze Ugwumba, Iyinoluwa Akenroye, Loveth Abang, and Bisola Abimbola, who now contribute to building products, leading projects, and driving innovation within the company.

‎Speaking on her experience, Abimbola described the internship as transformative, noting that she was given real responsibility from the outset.

‎“I can confidently say the internship was one of the best things that has happened in my career. I worked on real projects, took ownership, and delivered results. That hands-on experience strengthened my confidence and prepared me for the level of responsibility I now handle,” she said.
‎Chinaza Nduka-Dike, Head of People Operations at Moniepoint Inc., reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering inclusion in the tech ecosystem.

‎“With the Women in Tech programme, we are not just advocating inclusion; we are creating sustainable pathways for women to thrive. Diversity drives innovation, and through this initiative, we are equipping women with the skills and opportunities to take on leadership roles and shape the future of technology,” she said.

‎She added that the progress recorded across previous cohorts, with alumni making significant contributions both within the company and the wider tech ecosystem, underscores the programme’s impact.

The 2026 campaign coincides with the close of Women’s Month and aligns with Moniepoint’s broader commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 on Gender Equality.

‎Applications open on March 30, 2026, and the programme is open to women across Nigeria seeking to start or transition into careers in technology, regardless of whether they are self-taught or formally trained.

‎Further details on application requirements and available roles are accessible on the programme’s official website.
