A new automotive brand, Buscar, was on Tuesday, introduced in Nigeria, to address the problem of urban transportation on the Africa continent.

A new automotive brand, Buscar, was on Tuesday, introduced in Nigeria, to address the problem of urban transportation on the Africa continent.

Unveiling a demo model of the vehicle in Lagos, the Managing Director of the organisation, Friday Yange, said Buscar is designed with Africa’s environment and people in mind.

According to him, the vehicle is built to become the preferred bus and coach brand, with the help of qualified team to produce cost-efficient and durable products.

The organisation, which has secured the support of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW), hinted that a pact with the organisation could turn the new city bus to a replacement Lagos State is seeking for 89yellow buses.

Narrating the history of brand, which Yenge described as a Nigerian product designed for Africa, he said: “Mid-2008, we secured and became a distributor for BONLUCK in Nigeria. In 2015, the idea of BUSCAR brand was conceived and birthed in line with the Nigeria automotive and local content policy. Against the background of increasing globalisation of bus builders, there are a number of emerging new faces in Nigeria and Africa, and BUSCAR is now one of them.”

Yenge disclosed that the vehicle was built in conjunction with Cummins, a world acclaimed engine builders at a facility currently located in Asia, adding that the firm is on the verge of completing a plant in Nigeria, to boost local capacity and offer employment opportunities.

Yange explained that the BUSCAR Company chose to partner with Cummins because the company is tested and approved by testimony to be a world leader in the construction and manufacturing of automotive engines.

The vehicle debuted with a three-year repayment plan and warranty agreement.

The National President, NURTW, Nojeem Yasin, who was at the event insisted that except the company must priority aftersales service to provide adequate spare-parts and service, projected objectives of the new brand may remain elusive.

Yasin however commended the company for the boldness, saying it is an indication that great things could come out of Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Managing Director, Cummins West Africa, Kwame Gyan-Tawiah, commended BUSCAR for the great feat of providing the world with a coach brand for Africa and from Nigerian origin.

He said the BUSCAR strategy is in alignment with the Cummins business philosophy of operating as a global company with local presence.

“Our strategy especially for Africa is to bring our resources closer to our customers and end users to ensure dependable power, a pleasing experience and all-round after-market solution.”

Beside training and other aftersales service provision, Cummins would ensure the availability of genuine spare parts at affordable and competitive prices for the BUSCAR brands, Gyan-Tawiah assured.
