Party faults Ambode’s failure to conduct council poll
The Lagos chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for inflicting unnecessary pains and hardship on Nigerians since he took over power in 2015.

The party also faulted the policies of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode government in the state saying, “It has not done anything extraordinary to improve on the lives of citizens of the state compared with its change promises.”

According to one of the leaders of the party, who contested for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alimosho Constituency II, Mr. Fatai Kehinde Owolabi, the almost two years reign of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been a complete disaster.

While he charged Nigerians to as a matter of urgency start thinking of credible alternative to the APC in 2019, Owolabi described the economic policies of the President as counterproductive, which has culminated in increased sufferings for Nigerians.

But the publicity secretary of APC in the state, Mr. Joe Igbokwe dismissed the position of the PDP as mere ranting of a loosing group, which has lost bearings and is only struggling for survival.

According to Owolabi, “Since President Buhari took over government in May 2015 there has be wailing and crying all over Nigeria, hunger has increased since most Nigerians cannot even afford a single meal a day. The prices of common food consumed by the common man have increased astronomically, a bag of rice which was N9, 000.00 under erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan now sells for N32, 000.00 while the price of garri has also increased by about two hundred percent.

“Kerosene has gone out of circulation, fuel price has hit the roof top, parents cannot afford to pay their children school fees anymore, house rent has increased to the point that tenants can’t afford to pay and as result are now sleeping on street like refuges.”

The PDP lamented that rather than experience change, which the APC promised during its electioneering campaign, what Nigerians are experiencing at the moment is not different from bondage.

His words: “Most Nigerians, except the few APC apologists will agree that the change promised by the APC has turned the economy to chains due to the incompetence of President Buhari, and what do you except when you have a President who is so bias and lacks vision at the helms of affairs; a president whose appointment has favoured one section of the country over the others?

The party also faulted Governor Ambode’s administration over its inability to conduct the local government election since he took over office.

It posited that APC could not conduct council because of the fear of losing as a result of the woeful performance of the party both at the national and state levels.

However, Igbokwe insisted that whatever the country is going through today was the outcome of what was planted by the PDP in its sixteen years in government.
