Over 3,000 northeast households get farm input support

Over 3,000 households have been empowered with agricultural inputs for 2019/20 dry season farming in the Northeast.
The Victims Support Fund (VSF) distributed the inputs to the beneficiaries recently.

The targeted households were drawn from three local government areas of Jakusko, Chibok, and Mubi in Yobe, Borno and Borno states. They had been affected by over a decade-long insurgency.

While inaugurating the distribution, VSF Executive Director, Prof. Sunday Ochoche, said in Yobe State, “What is happening today is actually not a Yobe-State programme alone.

“Three thousand households affected by Boko Haram insurgency will receive the agricultural inputs across the northeast zone.”

According to him, the households will be given irrigation water pumps, improved varieties of seeds, fertiliser, pesticides, and sprayers to improve their yields and productivity.

He said the dry-season farming programme was also to improve household nutrition and engender financial independence of the displaced who had returned to their communities.
