In a bid to give young talents the opportunity to showcase their talents, Prestige Entertainment, recently held its first edition of open mic contest, tagged, Open Mic Night.

The contest which was held at Vintage beach Hotel & Resort, Lekki, saw talented female rapper, Ifeatu, beating the likes of, Roey, a male vocalist and King Juan, to emerge winner in the competition. As she went home with the price of N10,000 and a recording deal with Prestige Entertainment.

According to the organiser and CEO of Prestige Entertainment, Jerome Stanford, the show is his desire to help up and coming artistes find their space in the industry. “This contest was inspired by the fact that most open mic shows don’t give prizes to inspire up and coming artistes for them to work hard. I have also noticed that there is no consistent outlet for up comers in the industry. I believe that there are so many talented artistes in this country who lack the platform to shine. We are looking out for stage presence, production, lyrics and vocal ability whether it is rap or any other genre of music. I am also looking out for that artiste that will follow this record label to the next level because we want to be the brand known for fresh materials so that the audience and followers will not get bored and so we are making it a monthly contest”, he said.
