For pupils dreaming of great careers and successful lifestyles in future, the time to lay the foundation is now, and it is through studying “very hard,” so says the School Director, Dawn Michaels School (DMS), Okota, Lagos, Mrs. Uche Ndulue.

Speaking at the fourth yearly graduation ceremony of DMS, Ndulue stressed that as a matter of necessity, being in possession of the spirit of excellence, being respectful and hardworking were part of the attributes that would launch anyone to the highly desirable path of greatness.

According to her, “Doing well at school will give you the choices you want in later life. That may be as teachers, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, accountants, factory managers or dentists. All the great jobs require good academic qualifications. Not only that, you also will be more confident people who can face whatever challenges.

“I hope this graduation which is your first success makes you hungry for more academic success. Education is the best and easiest way to create long-term sustainable improvement in your lives. The best way to take part in it for your benefit is to be educated,” the school director added.

Ndulue, who described education as a social leveler said, “I can testify that education can change your life for the better for education is the cornerstone of our lives… It is essential that you use education to build successful foundations for yourselves. There is a fantastic world out there for you.

She continued, “No doubt, many of you who are graduating today will go out and attain success and we trust that you will act as ambassadors of this school, so that others can see from your examples what an excellent place (DMS) is.”

According to her, “There is a very bright future waiting for you, you just need to work hard at your studies to get it, the power of perseverance- the secret of success will often be sheer perseverance.

In her valedictory speech, outgoing head girl of the Class of 2016, Nina Okoro, expressed appreciation to parents and teachers for the respective roles they played in seeing them through this tier of education.
