Founder of Africa at Under 40 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Familusi Babajide, has emphasised the importance of encouraging curiosity and innovation from an early age, saying these skills have great impact on a child’s personal development and future career achievements.

Babajide noted that equipping children with entrepreneurial skills not only prepare them for potential business ventures, but also foster critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and problem-solving abilities essential for any career path.

Babajide spoke at a webinar for parents, which was themed: “Equipping children with entrepreneurial skills for modern success,” where he shared insights with participants on nurturing entrepreneurial abilities in their wards from an early age.

He said: “Equipping children with entrepreneurial skills is not just about preparing them for the modern world, it is about empowering them to shape it. These skills are the building blocks of success in a rapidly changing world. When we introduce entrepreneurship skills to children, we are not only teaching them skills, but also building confidence, independence, and a proactive mindset.”

Babajide said parents can nurture these entrepreneurial abilities in their wards by encouraging financial literacy, through savings and budgeting, promoting independence and responsibility through age-appropriate chores, and supporting extra-curricula activities that build teamwork and leadership.

He said parents and educators need to foster an environment that encourages exploration and risk-taking within safe boundaries, as these create supportive framework for children to develop and refine their entrepreneurial capabilities.

He also urged stakeholders to integrate entrepreneurship into education and daily life, saying the impact of these skills sets them up for academic success, and prepares them for fulfilling careers or business ventures in the future.
