A student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State, has been accused of trying to kill her newly born baby by flinging her into an empty plot next to their hostel.

She however ran out luck when the baby was found on the fence with barbwire hooking the baby’s leg.

The girl whose identity is yet to be made public delivered a baby girl on Friday, March 6, 2020, in her boyfriend’s room at Munachi hostel, Oko, Orumba north local council.

“They tried to kill the baby by throwing her over the fence from the first floor of the hostel to the next empty plot, but were unlucky when the baby was found hanging on the barbed wire of the fence, the eyewitness said.

The baby was rescued alive by the residents of the hostel and was taken to Chukwunoso hospital opposite the main gate of the polytechnic, though the baby later died.

Further checks revealed that the higher national diploma student of Public Administration Department, connived with his roommate to allow his girlfriend deliver the baby in their room so that they can carry out their evil act.

The Guardian also learnt that the student turned mother, is an Ordinary National Diploma (OND1) student, who is just starting her career in the institution.

Police had since arrested the boy’s roommate for further interrogation.
