Team Up For Health organises roadside walk, free screening

To commemorate 2015 World Hypertension Day, Team Up for Health initiative will be organizing a roadside walk and free hypertension screening.

Team up for Health is an initiative sponsored by Carlisel Healthcare Limited.

The roadside walk scheduled to take place on Saturday May 16, 2015, starting from Ikoyi Baptist Church down to Obalande through Lekki and back to the church begins at 7am and free hypertension screening follow immediately.

The theme of the roadside walk is “Know Your Blood Pressure”. Interested participants were advised to register online at www.teamupforhealth.org and also at Carlisle pharmacy Ikoyi.

The Chief Executive Officers of Carlisle Healthcare Limited, Shade Animashaun, said research had shown that Lagosians are often prone high blood pressure due the hustle and bustle in the state.

She said because Team Up for Health will introduce a blood pressure apparatus, compact and user friendly with extra features to detect arterial fibrillation, a traffic light indicator that interprets the blood pressure level showing the ideal, safe and danger zones during the walk.

Animashaun said: “This apparatus is available in pharmacies and store nationwide. Registration for the event is free. All participants will receive a “goodie bag” containing a T-shirt, face cap from event sponsor. Community advocates who canvases for others to join the walk and save lives will be appreciated.

“During the walk various stopping stations will be set up along the path for supporters to and sponsors to distribute water and other items. We hope to hold many more walks sensitizing the general public especially those at the grassroots level on prevention and intervention approaches to chronic health issues,” she said.
