UBTH experts offer free medical services to residents in Edo

Medical experts from the Department of Ear Nose Throat Head and Neck Surgery, University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has offered free medical services to at least 500 residents in Udo, Ovia Southwest Local Government Area of Edo state as part of activities to mark World Hearing Day.

Speaking during a free hearing screening and treatment of ear diseases at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital Comprehensive Health Centre in Udo community in Edo state, consultant Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon and Chairman 2021 World Hearing Day committee, Dr. Eustace E. Oseghale, said 500 indigent patients benefited from the free screening and treatment and commended UBTH for the exercise.

Oseghale, who appreciated the management of UBTH led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Darlington Obaseki, said the free health servithatere to ensure that local dwellers get medical attention even while residing in their local communities.

According to him, the event was put together by the department of Ear Nose Throat and Head and Neck Surgery of UBTH.

He said the event was a major feat which attracted hundreds of community members and a courtesy call on the Iyase of Udo, where the Monarch was briefed on the mission of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital to assist locals in the community.

Oseghale added that the communities also benefited from health talk on ear care, prevention of hearing loss and other ear diseases, and management of hearing loss.

He noted that the ENT medical personnel from UBTH would remain committed to ensuring that the community enjoys the continuous ENT services of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital annex in Udo community in Edo state.
