Varsity, foundation collaborate on exchange programmes

Igbenedion University, Okada has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a non-governmental organisation, Rosula Foundation for the establishment of an executive business school.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Lawrence Ezemonye said the collaboration followed intensive negotiations between the two organisations over the last six months.

According to the VC, the two have agreed to jointly set up a business school where chief executives and senior-level managers of public, private, and corporate organisations would be able to acquire post-graduate degrees and certifications in management courses.

The foundation, which has sponsored over 100 undergraduate students in various disciplines in the institution promised to facilitate the re-modeling of the designated university property to reflect the profile of the new school.

In a related development, the Benin Technical College Alumni has applauded Governor Godwin Obaseki for revamping the college, now known as Government Science and Technical College (GSTC), after several years of neglect.

The President of the body, Mr. Nosa Igbinidu, who was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Prof. Deborah Odejimi, gave the commendation during the presentation of teaching and learning materials to the college in Benin City.

The group donated 10 sets of all-in-one computers with fully installed and licenced Microsoft Office software; an industrial photocopier; Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) units and core textbooks to the resource centre of the college.

Igbinidu said the donation of the materials was in line with the group’s policies and objectives, and its conscious decision to support the state government in improving the pedagogy and study experience of students as well as the working conditions of teachers of the college.
