Scripture: Acts 15:36 “…Paul said to Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren… and see how they do”.

Bible Passages: Acts 15:36, Acts 16:5

Introduction
MANY people wrongly believe that since we now have “Mega Cathedrals” and ‘Proliferation of Churches,” there is no more need for the vital foundational tasks of evangelism and visitation. This partly explains the pervading apathy in the performance of these extremely important assignments in most congregations today.

Fruit-bearing
The primary purpose of our salvation is to make heaven and the closely related second reason is to rescue other sinners from hell – Jn. 15:16, Rom. 7:4. Neglect of the second purpose may cost us the first Jn. 15:1-2, Matt. 3:10, Heb. 6:8. So, why are we not birthing new converts and making disciples of them? We should give these issues the deserved priority – Matt. 13:18-22. The forces of darkness are always opportunistic and this issue is no exception – Lk. 13:6, Lk. 19:20. We cannot afford to be ignorant of their wiles and schemes – 2 Corinthians 2:11

Abiding Fruit
It is one thing to bear fruit and another thing to ensure the fruit abides – Jn.15: 16. We must not just bear fruit, but also care and nourish the fruits – Col. 1:28. The Holy Spirit is seeking brothers and sisters sold out to the ministry of follow-up and visitation. Biblical examples include the early Apostles, particularly Paul – Acts 15:36, Acts 16:5, Acts 2:46, Phil.2: 19 – 20, Eph. 1:15-18, Acts 18:18-23. The methods adopted include spending quality time in prayers and Bible study with the new converts. The Holy Spirit will increase grace in our lives, when we express our warmth and love to new converts and present them with the exciting new life available only in Christ Jesus. – Acts 2:41-47.

Conclusion
The Lord commanded all Christians to bear fruits and that the fruits should abide. Having examined some basic principles, ways and means of bearing fruits, let us, I pray thee, revamp personal evangelism wherever we are and faithfully follow up new converts and those who have fallen or gone back. You will be a special vessel in His hands to expand His Kingdom on earth and rescue the perishing. Remember He died so we can live. Call on the Holy Spirit today and He will help you in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
