We Support FG’s Anti-corruption Crusade, Says African Church

Buhari’s Inaugural SpeechTHE Archbishop of the Lagos Province of the African Church, Most Reverend Julius Ogunseye, has said that the church is in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s onslaught on corruption.

He said this at the weekend during a press conference to announce the inauguration of the Lagos province of the church.

The event was also used to raise funds for the new province, as well as the enthronement of Archbishop Ogunseye.

He called for peace in Nigeria and expressed his support for the President Buhari’s anti-corruption efforts.

“The African church is a well structured church, guided by its constitution, which has witnessed five different reviews, the last of which was passed into law at the conference held at the African church Parish, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta, on May 17, 2014, where the church was restructured again into provinces for better administration,” he said.

According to him, “We will not stop preaching against any form of intolerance and we support the Federal Government in its battle against insurgency and Boko Haram in particular.”

The acting provincial Vice lay President, Engr. B.A. Odufuwa, said the church plans to build a university, which is going to be affordable to the members. “The church has established different schools, and we plan to build a university soon. We are not sure of the location yet, but it is going to be very affordable, conventional and laced with the Gospel. And any proven member’s ward would get special privileges.”
