Wike urges tribunal to withdraw order on inspection of poll materials
GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has prayed the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal, to set aside the order it made for the All Progressive Congress (APC) to inspect election materials used for the April 11, 2015 governorship polls in the state.
In the motion filed on June 16, Counsel to the governor, Emmanuel Ukala prayed the court to set aside the order granted on June 11 on the ground that the order was made despite a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the court which was pending before it.
According to the motion, the order which was made after an exparte motion was moved by counsel to the petitioner, Olumide Olujinmi, was unknown to law.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Muazu Abdulkadir Pindiga, however fixed July 6 for the hearing of the motion.
The motion could not be heard because other parties in the petition filed by the APC in the state and its candidate needed time to react to it.
The petitioners had through their counsel sought the leave of the court to order the inspection of electoral materials used for the governorship election.
In the motion exparte dated June 3 and filed on June 8, Olujinmi prayed the court for an order allowing the inspection of the electoral materials related to the conduct of the gubernatorial election in the state.
He urged the court to order the inspections of Card Readers and records of electoral materials used in all the polling units in the state.
In a short ruling, the tribunal granted the requests of the applicants. It however, asked the applicants to put the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the state governor, Wike on notice on the other request to conduct a forensic analysis on the computers used for the election.
The APC in Rivers State and its candidate in the election dragged INEC, PDP and Governor Wike before the tribunal to challenge his victory at the April 11 election.

Nyesome cannot change his colors just as a leopard cannot do the same. Prior to 1999 – those of us who know him better than he knows himself can boldly call him out for what he was/is today, mile 3 chief motor park tout. Nyesome and his cronies extort money from driver plying the PH/Owerri road. To justify the preceding let us look at the caliber of his recent appointments. By appointing a former hustler whose claim to fame was a fake marriage to the cousin of Raymond Dokpesi which fetched him appointment [CPS] with Odili — a commissioner for housing smack due diligence in the face. One questions what qualifies this individual to be commissioner for housing – NOTHING! Except for Kobani [SSG], the rest are his hatchet men. Especially Emeka Woke who was video- taped along with EMOLGA DPO carting away voter’s result sheets [more to come on this]. Another question –where did Nyesome Wike get all the wealth to have acquired so many properties and businesses? As stated earlier, Nyesome was a motor park chief tout. He stole massively as LGA chairman, chief of staff, and minister. As President Buhari declared – all those who stole must return the wealth. Nyesome – this declaration includes you O! Who in their mind believes that in a free and fair election Nyesome will win convincingly in his own ward? None!!! I am ashamed of how much Nyesome has turned Rivers State into a laughing stock. Yes, Amaechi is accused of disrespecting his elders amongst others. Give him credit for standing for something!
Judgement day is around the corner!!!!!
We will review and take appropriate action.
