JOY was written on the glowing faces of the congregation that gathered recently to celebrate the Deeper Life National Easter Retreat with the theme: “The Power of His Cross.”

There was an unusual dimension to this year’s celebration- expression of happiness that the situation in the country did not cancel the annual coming together of God’s people.

As one of the participants said: “When the Retreat days were announced, we took same with joy but with mixed feelings. As the first leg of the election was approaching, there was this fear in many of us that probably the Retreat would be put off in case of any outbreak of violence.”

“Thank God, there was no violence and I really commend the faith of the leadership of the Church that the fear that gripped everybody did not make the Church authority to pre-empt any negative expectation to the point of cancelling the Retreat. Thank God that the enemy did not rob us of our blessings,” he said.

The joy that there was peace in the country and the benevolence of God not to allow the 2015 Retreat to be cancelled inspired the people, both young and old members of the Church including the invited friends to wanting to benefit from the exposition of “the power of His Cross” that was waiting for them at the Camp.

The opening message: “The Cross that cancels our Curse” delivered by the General Superintendent, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi, met with the expectations of the people. That was the significance of Easter that the agonising death preceded by excruciating pains of Jesus Christ was what God, the Father needed to cancel our sins. He sacrificed His only begotten Son for mankind to be free from the curse of sin and death.

Other messages from him that were transmitted to every Deeper Life locations all over the world through the Satelite include ‘Our Glorious Escape’, ‘Conquering through the Blood Covenant’ ‘The Cross that Guarantees Total Triumph, ‘A Lifetime of Divine Healing’, ‘From Crucifixion to Coronation’, ‘The Unforgettable Touch’ and Partaking of Wonders from His Wondrous Cross.”

Lives were transformed and the powerful prayers of the man of God with heavenly anointing rained blessings on the participants.

There was unspeakable joy throughout the camp and according to one of the leaders in the Church, “there is cause to thank God because we have just had an election that made many people to be apprehensive, troubled while many even thought of relocating because of the fear that there could be outbreak of violence.” “Rather, God granted Nigeria peace and we will continue to pray. This period is very unique because the peace that Jesus’ death and resurrection brought to mankind has really manifested. We give thanks to God and pray that the wisdom the President-elect needs to run his tenure successfully, God would give him,” he prayed.

A JSS3 student of Jotlad Secondary School, Ayobo and a member of Ipaja District Church of Deeper Life Bible Church, Priscilla Taiwo, said she thanked God for taking part in the Retreat and her sisters and brother as well as her entire family.
