Scion of an inventor father, close friend to the late Professor Ayodele Awojobi, a pioneer Nigerian research scientist in Vibration Physics who invented a bi-directional vehicle called Autonov2. His paternal background earlier in life influenced his passion for research and writing especially science and technological research writing. He has written extensively on Green/Free Energy-Driven Technological Research and Inventions, Home-Grown Scientific Innovations among others. Olajide Pedro an aviator, and ICAO/ NCAA certified in Aviation Terrorism and Flight Operations Sabotage, is a graduate of English Language from Lagos State University. He currently works as a chartered surveillance and passenger flight operations/instructor with Caverton Helicopters. Also a commercial drone enthusiast and operator, he is the owner of Symphoni Drone Facilities, an outfit with unmanned aerial vehicle technology in logistic services, based in Lagos. Pedro, in this interview with Adelowo Adebumiti, spoke on the need to look inward for good research minds that have homegrown solutions for the country’s present challenges. He also talked about Plasma Activated Water, the miracle water developed by a Nigerian.

When did you go into research and writing?
I went into scientific research writing a couple of years ago, doing advocacy, analysis, posting and publishing online.

You are a proponent of Nigerian looking inward for sustainable development. How can Nigerians proceed?
For Nigeria to have sustainable development, the country needs looking inward for indigenous research minds who are burning to offer all that they have at their disposal for the kind of advancement we are truly hoping for, in other to grow the country’s economy and entire infrastructure. The government needs to create an emporium where researchers, their research results, conferences, workshops, promotional programs, sponsors and prospective investors can be organized and harnessed for the sustenance of this much needed national development.

Our lack of technological know-how to develop and even utilize these abundant natural endowments is as a result of years of complete neglect and underestimation of our intellectual depth and loss of touch with the realities of our own ancestral science potentials. Secondly, the technological drought as being presently experienced in the country is imperatively consequential upon the price to be paid for the age-long ignorance fostered on us by negative religious beliefs and unhealthy political structure.

You stated that Nigeria has abundant materials to adequately handle the people’s need. How can these materials be harnessed?
Yes, Nigeria has abundant materials to adequately handle the people’s need and these materials can be harnessed in a number of ways among which we need to recognize the fact that to even have full realization that these materials are available and in abundance, we must first provide necessarily the suitable atmosphere and condition in which discoveries of such can be made.

You are passionate about Plasma Activated Water. What are the benefits?
Plasma Activated Water is the water that has gone through electrolysis process by way of resonance. When water is resonated to a degree, the electrical field it generated will ionize and pick molecules from the air, turning them into plasma. It is man’s own way of copying nature as it strikes on the oceans, and the surrounding waters turn plasmic.

The benefits of Plasma Activated Water (PAW) are enormous. Rather than the organic, it is the pure nature’s own alternative (Thunder Lightening Through Electrolysis) to pesticides, antiseptics, manure, fertilizers and chemical based antibiotics, among others.

In what way can it be useful to daily life?
Plasma Activated Water (PAW) is highly useful to daily life, due to its relevance to certain basic utilities and essence of life. Nutritionally, it proves to be the best table water and is also good for preserving food. In agriculture, Plasma Activated Water helps in fighting microbes off our food crops. It has the potency to kill bacteria and pests. PAW can also be used to disinfect and even in man, it can play healing roles.

The usefulness of Plasma Activated Water is immeasurable to daily life. As aforementioned, it can be used as disinfectant for our drainage, markets, canals and toiletries. It can also effectively sterilize clinical / medical equipment and functionally pass for drips. It can act as preservative for poultry food (when prepared with it) and fruits (in the absence of refrigerants). As said earlier, it remains the best for table water (food), during dehydration and already, there are testimonies as well, to its human healing abilities.

Can it be mass-produced? And in what way can Nigerians access it?
Plasma Activated Water can be massed produced. A living proof of this possibility is the first-hand experience when I visited one engineer Oladapo Daniel, an inventor in his research yard. I was amazed at the volume of beneficiaries who turned up at his home with empty gallons and kegs to get their own measures of the ‘miracle’ water. From there, I took some with me to my home. Its various user benefits are testimonial all over the globe.

Nigeria can widely access it because the technology that goes into it is exclusively electrolytic, free energy-driven, derivable everywhere and environment compliant, thereby making the production of PAW free from limitations. More so, the source of the raw material for the product and the raw material itself (water) is naturally free and available everywhere.

You have your own Youtube channel where you identify and promote researchers and their work. How can budding researchers and innovators tap into this collection of experts from around the world?
Actually, Symphoni Discovery TV (Channel) is designed and established to offer an online platform on Nigerian indigenous researchers innovators can interact or relate with their colleagues and others around the world to share knowledge and information. It is more or less a web-based habitat for these like minds, a place where they can meet with investors and access the needed supports. It also serves as a global channel through which they can showcase their works, get appropriate and due recognition for them and be followed by aspiring/upcoming science devotees.

However, a print medium like the Guardian Newspapers, through its publications of research works of this nature can equally offer a platform on which marketable innovations can be showcased, for the sole attraction of private/corporate investors and concerned government agencies for national development, through summits, conferences and retreats.

Where do you see Nigeria in the next five years if the country embraces these new ideas and utilize them for development?
If we can key into these ideas and utilize them, even in less than five years, Nigeria, as a country will have started undergoing the process of unprecedented emergence as one the developing countries with the most rapid infrastructural growth.
