Under his leadership, the district has embraced contemporary digital marketing techniques, including the production of engaging video skits that highlight the Lions’ community service efforts. These skits have not only showcased the organization’s impact but have also attracted a broader audience to their initiatives. Additionally, the district’s active presence on social media platforms has been amplified, fostering greater community engagement and awareness.
Recognising the importance of storytelling, Lion Olukokun as a Leo spearheaded the creation of “Ileovasion” and now as a Lion the “Lions Paw Print”, a magazine that documents the district’s activities, achievements, and member contributions. These publications serve as both an informative resource and a motivational tool for members, reinforcing the district’s commitment to service and excellence.
By leveraging platforms like Instagram and Facebook, Lion Olukokun has ensured that the district’s initiatives reached a wider audience. The consistent sharing of content, including event highlights and member achievements, has fostered a sense of community and transparency, encouraging more individuals to participate in and support Lions’ projects.
He also spearheaded the campaign that won his local club, Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club the International Marketing Award of Lions Club International.
In acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions, Olukokun received the prestigious Leadership Award of the International President, reflecting his dedication to advancing the Lions International mission of membership growth through formation of Lions Clubs.
“Receiving the prestigious Leadership Award is both an immense honor and a deeply humbling experience. Even though the award is personal, to me the recognition is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the collective efforts and our collective dedication to membership growth and new club formation which aligns with the mission 1.5 agenda of Lions International. Forming a new Lions club is always a celebrated achievement which is why Mission 1.5 acknowledges recurring club chartering efforts with exclusive leadership and presidential club growth awards. I received the award because of my contributions in forming three new Lions Clubs in the first half of the service year out of the nine formed so far this service year.
“Any successful feat is never a solo journey; it thrives on teamwork, shared vision, a commitment to making a meaningful impact and meeting set goals outlined to Lions at the district and international level. I am very fortunate as a zone Chairperson and grateful to clubs in Zone 6C, particularly the leadership of Lagos Indiana Lions Club, Lagos British Lions Club and Maryland Golden Lions Club, whose unwavering support and collaboration made their charter possible,” a visibly excited Olukokun said.

He explains his role as Marketing and Communications Chairperson for Lions District 404B2 Nigeria. “As the Marketing and Communications Chairperson for Lions District 404B2 Nigeria, my role is crucial in shaping the public image, visibility, and engagement of the district. My key responsibilities include branding and public relations ensuring that all district communication aligns with Lions Clubs International (LCI) branding guidelines. I am also tasked with promoting the district’s projects, initiatives, and events through various media channels. The marketing team under my guidance is also in charge of the district’s social media and digital presence. We manage and grow the district’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.). I also create and oversee engaging content (graphics and videos) to showcase the impact of Lions’ service activities and projects while also encouraging clubs within the district to stay active online and share their activities.
“Furthermore, the marketing team manages internal and external communications by serving as the main information hub for Lions within the district. We have to ensure timely communication of updates from Lions International, Constitutional Area VIII, Multiple District 404, the District Governor, and other cabinet officers/committees. Similarly we design fliers and distribute our publications including the District Governor’s press releases.”
Olukokun’s team is also saddled with the responsibility of membership and community engagement by working closely with the Global Membership Team (GMT) and Global Service Team (GST) to highlight the impact of Lions’ work and developing marketing strategies to attract new members and retain existing ones. This they do by engaging compelling storytelling to inspire community support and partnerships. “The marketing team is also in charge of event promotion and media coverage for district functions. We coordinate publicity for major district events like service projects, fundraisers, conventions, and training sessions while also coordinating photography, videography, and live streaming when needed.
Finally, the marketing and communications team provides training and support by training club-level marketing chairpersons on best practices for effective communication. We also provide guidance on utilizing LCI’s communication resources and tools. You will agree with me that my role as marketing and communication chairperson and that of the team is vital in amplifying the district’s voice, engaging stakeholders, and enhancing the visibility of Lions Club’s humanitarian efforts in Nigeria. This we have done in a brilliant fashion so far and we are proud to have raised the bar this service year. Having five of our reported LCIF assisted project showcased on the international media “stories of Pride” platform and getting many engagement from the international office for our posts and content has been rewarding and fulfilling,” he submitted.

I believe balancing my professional life as an IT business analyst with Mecklenburg County, my passion for music and art, and my commitment to Lions service is all about integration and time management.
It is also having the ability to effectively compartmentalize. In my IT role, I leverage analytical thinking and problem-solving, which also fuels my creativity in music and art. My artistic side provides a refreshing balance, helping me approach challenges with a unique perspective. Meanwhile, my involvement with the Lions allows me to give back to the community, which keeps me grounded and connected. Each aspect complements the other, making my life both fulfilling and purpose-driven.”
