Lawmaker pledges 1,000 solar-powered street lights to Imo communities
Communities of Ahiazu Mbaise and Ezinihitte in Imo State would soon get a major infrastructural boost as Emeka Martins Chinedu plans to install 1,000 solar-powered street lights across both LGAs.
The initiative, which aimed at improving security and enhancing night-time visibility, will see 500 streetlights deployed in each of the local government areas, ensuring equitable distribution across all 24 electoral wards.
According to Chinedu, each ward is slated to receive 40 units of the state-of-the-art solar-powered lights.
The lawmaker, in a statement, said to facilitate a seamless installation process, community stakeholders, including traditional rulers, Nze titleholders, and Presidents-General of town unions, have been urged to nominate focal representatives.
These representatives, he said, will liaise with the project team to identify the most strategic locations for the deployment of the streetlights.
Residents have lauded the project as a significant step towards community development, expressing optimism that it will foster economic growth and improve overall quality of life.
