Ayra Starr Stuns In Marc Jacobs Look At Tonight Show Performance

Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, made a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The 22-year-old took the stage to deliver a performance of two tracks from her newly released album, The Year I Turned 21, which debuted on May 30, 2024.

Ayra Starr’s setlist included a medley of two singles from the album. They are, Last Heartbreak Song featuring American R&B artist Giveon, and Woman Commando, an Afrobeats-Amapiano fusion collaboration with Coco Jones and Brazilian singer Anitta.

However, it wasn’t just Starr’s performance that captivated the audience; her outfit choice has also gone viral. Not surprising considering how beautiful she looked. Channeling early 2000s Beyoncé, Ayra wore a gold two-piece outfit from the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

The outfit, which featured a halter-neck top and a matching gold skirt with fringe details, perfectly complemented Starr’s honey-blonde hair. In addition, the shimmering fabric and playful fringe details created a visually appealing look that was well-suited for a television show appearance.

Additionally, Ayra Starr now joins a lineup of popular Nigerian artistes that have performed at the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Some of them include Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Burna Boy, Fireboy, and Asake. Notably, Ayra is the only female Nigerian artiste on this list.

The Year I Turned 21, is Ayra Starr’s second studio album. That is, since her debut album, 19 & Dangerous, was released in 2021. Her debut album put her in the limelight with chart-topping songs like Rush, and Bloody Samaritan.

In 2024, at the 66th GRAMMY Awards, Ayra Starr officially became a Grammy-nominated artiste in the Best African Music Performance for her song Rush. Unfortunately, she lost to South African singer, Tyla.
