Betty Irabor recently recounted her experience while travelling economy. Some Nigerians were genuinely concerned because she was not sitting in the first class section of an aeroplane.
“Aunty Betty, were you downgraded,” someone asked, really concerned and perhaps outraged by the audacity of any airline to downgrade such a “high profile celebrity”. “No”. I shook my head. “I was not downgraded”. I smiled to reassure the aburo as she made her way to Upper Class.
Her personal decision on travel class became topic for public opinion and concern. The question is why are some Nigerians overly concerned about other people’s business?
