The granddaughter of internationally renowned former music icon Bob Marley has drawn harsh criticism for wearing clothing bearing the slogan “White Lives Matter” that was created by rapper Kanye West.

Selah Marley, the daughter of artist Lauryn Hill and the granddaughter of reggae legend Bob Marley, decided to assist Kanye in introducing his new clothing line at the YZY fashion show.

The catchphrase “White Lives Matter” has been associated with the Ku Klux Klan and mocks the well-known “Black Lives Matter” movement, which promotes racial equality, especially in the USA but also internationally.

The fashion show was a surprise event that happened and white Lives Matter was scrawled across a black sweater that Kanye was wearing.

The ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement was started in 2013 after George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin dead, and models at the rapper’s fashion show also wore clothing with the message printed on them.

Selah shared a video of herself at the event chatting and having fun with West. Selah is seen in the video sporting a “White Lives Matter” shirt.

Selah posted three videos showing her wearing the contentious item in total, each with the remark “Love you Kanye West.”

The model, who is signed to NEXT Models, previously served as the face of Beyonce’s Ivy Park SS17 fitness collection.

She cited Kanye West as one of her role models in 2017.
