Britney Spears has teased the release of her first song since her conservatorship ended.
The popstar on Wednesday shared a video of her singing in front of a bathroom mirror while belting out some sky-high notes and finishing with a soulful low run wearing low-rise jeans and a purple crop top.
In her caption, she wrote, “Just realized this today guys … after what my family tried to do to me three years ago … I needed to be my own cheerleader !!!! God knows they weren’t…so I just read up on my self and this is what I found.”
She, however, made it clear that she was “not auditioning for anything,” but wanted to “remind my white ‘classy’ family that I haven’t forgotten what they did to me nor will I ever forget !!!!”
Spears, in her caption, also quoted her RCA Records artist bio, which reads in part: “Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning pop icon Britney Spears is one of the most successful and celebrated entertainers in pop history with nearly 100 million records sold worldwide. In the U.S. alone, she has sold more than 70 million albums, singles, and songs, according to Nielsen Music.”
Spears has revealed that for the first time since the #FreeBritney movement, that she is working on new music.
“Pssss new song in the works,” she writes. “I’m gonna let you know what I mean 😉 !!!!!”
Britney was freed from the conservatorship, which she was placed under in September 2008 on Nov.12, when a LA judge terminated it. In an emotional testimony on Jun 23, Spears broke her silence, detailing the hardships she has endured throughout the decades-long conservatorship.
She noted that it was her “wish” and “dream” for the conservatorship to end, expressing hope for justice and that her father be charged with “conservatorship abuse.”
Her estranged father, Jamie Spears, filed court documents to have the musician’s estate continue paying his legal fees earlier this year.
