The movie, Orah, is set to debut at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month, and includes two tracks from Onyeabor’s debut album “They Can’t Pull Us Down” and “Ije Nwoke.”

These tunes, known for their emotional depth, beautifully align with the film’s storyline.

“Ije Nwoke” literally translates into “the journey of man” in the Igbo language of southeast Nigeria.

Nzekwe, recognised for his ability to intertwine cultural narratives, chose Onyeabor’s music to be part of some of the songs that would amplify the film’s themes of resilience and story.

This collaboration highlights how combining diverse artistic styles can create an immersive cinematic experience.

Onyeabor, son of the late celebrated funk musician, William Onyeabor, is thrilled to be part of a project that celebrates cultural diversity.

As anticipation builds for TIFF, audiences eagerly await the screening of Nzekwe’s film, promising a memorable cinematic journey driven by Onyeabor’s captivating melodies as part of Orah’s soundtracks.
