Grammy-nominated singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that he will visit Osun State to collect his Accord Party membership card, days after his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, formally joined the party.

Davido made the announcement on Tuesday via his social media pages, saying he would be at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo.

“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ Imole House, Osogbo tomorrow… see you soon accordingly,” he wrote, while tagging the governor.

The announcement follows recent political developments in Osun State after Governor Adeleke resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the Accord Party.

The governor officially announced his move on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in the presence of national and state leaders of the party, where he also declared his intention to seek re-election for a second term.

“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders,” Adeleke said.

“Stakeholders and residents of Osun State are aware of why we are taking this important decision. We intend to pursue a second term in office on the platform of the Accord Party to complete the ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends, which have been applauded at home and abroad.”

Adeleke said he chose the party because its welfarist philosophy aligns with his administration’s focus on citizens’ welfare.

“I welcome our party leaders into the Osun State Government House. You are now part of us, as I am also now part of you. We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” he said.

“At this historical point, our task is to sustain a united front as we prepare for the elections. We have a duty to ensure inclusive leadership where the interests of all groups are considered.”

The governor described the Accord Party as the platform for continuity ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

“Osun voted for good governance in 2022, and they will support continuity in 2026. The masses of our people are for continuity, and Accord is our party for victory next year,” Adeleke added.

Recall that Adeleke formally announced his resignation from the PDP on December 1, citing persistent leadership turmoil at the party’s national level.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, the governor confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area, on November 4, 2025.

“Due to the ongoing crisis within the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (#OfficialPDPNig) at the national level, I officially conveyed my resignation letter as a member to the party leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government on November 4, 2025,” he said.

Davido had earlier reacted to his uncle’s resignation by reposting the announcement with the caption, “Jeje…”.
