At the recent Kellogg’s Nigeria Scholarship Award Ceremony in Ikeja, 150 young students stood on stage because they dared to imagine their futures and put those dreams on paper. Over 270,000 children entered the My Superstar Journey essay competition, and 150 stories stood out.
Each winner walked away with ₦150,000 and, more importantly, with the confidence that their ideas and dreams truly matter.
Creativity Is Essential.
We live in a world that loves to tell kids to “be realistic.” Pick safer options. But Kellogg’s Nigeria understands something crucial: creativity isn’t some luxury skill for artists and writers. It’s how we solve problems we’ve never seen before. It’s how we build things that don’t exist yet.
When a 9-year-old writes about inventing a machine that cleans Lagos beaches, she’s not just being cute. She’s learning to see problems and imagine solutions. That’s the mindset that builds businesses, heals communities, and changes countries.
“When we invest in children, we are investing in the future of the country,” said Balo Iwara, National BTL Lead at Kellogg’s Nigeria. Seven years and ₦22.5 million later, Kellogg’s Nigeria is proving they mean it.

Money Talks, But So Does Timing
Kellogg’s Nigeria’s ₦150,000 scholarship covers school fees, and the basic that too many families have to choose between. “This scholarship means so much to our family,” one parent shared. “Kellogg’s has lifted a big burden off us.”
But beyond paying for school, Kellogg’s Nigeria is sending a powerful message: your creativity has economic value. And Kellogg’s Nigeria chose the timing wisely. These kids are between 5 and 12, the exact age when they’re forming beliefs about themselves and what’s possible. Tell an eight-year-old child that their writing is scholarship-worthy, and you shape how they see themselves for decades.

The Bigger Picture
Nigeria doesn’t need more children who can recite textbooks. We need kids who can think, create, question, and imagine better ways of doing things.
Kellogg’s Nigeria gets this. Their scholarship program isn’t about handing out money and calling it a day. It’s about consistently showing up, year after year, to tell Nigerian children: we see you, we value you, and we’re backing you.
For seven years now, Kellogg’s Nigeria has invested millions of naira in young Nigerian minds through this scholarship initiative. They’ve reviewed over 30,000 essays, celebrated 150 winners, and sent a clear message to families across the country: children’s creativity deserves support, recognition, and real investment.
That’s how you build a future. One young dreamer at a time. And Kellogg’s Nigeria is in it for the long haul.
