Actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo, has dedicated his AMVCA wins to his father, Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, in a video that moved many fans online.

The emotional moment happened on Sunday, a day after Adebayo’s historical drama series “Seven Doors” swept three major categories at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held in Lagos on Saturday, May 10.

In the video shared on Instagram, the Jagun Jagun star was seen kneeling before his father while presenting the AMVCA trophies. Oga Bello, visibly proud, offered prayers over his son as family members surrounded them.

“There are moments awards can’t measure—like this one. Humbled beyond words as my father, Alhaji Adebayo Salami and my dear mothers poured prayers over me today… This win is ours, ” he wrong as caption for the video.

“Seven Doors” won Best Lead Actor (Femi Adebayo), Best Lead Actress (Chioma Chukwuka), and Best Score/Music (Tolu Obanro), making it one of the most celebrated projects of the night.

But not everyone celebrated quietly. A social media user with the handle @OriretanHonour raised eyebrows, suggesting Femi should stop casting his father in every film.

“Good job but limit featuring your dad always not to ruin your work,” the post partly read.

Responding, Femi wrote: “Success doesn’t have to wear noise all the time… If having a master of the craft in my work ‘ruins’ it for you, maybe the problem isn’t the casting, it’s your understanding of legacy and excellence.”
He added, “Na God dey promote, and when grace speaks, even silence trends.”

Directed by Femi Adebayo alongside Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo, “Seven Doors” tells the story of a cursed king, Adedunjoye, who must marry six more wives to break a generational curse, despite his love for his only wife, Amaka.
The film bagged 11 nominations ahead of the award ceremony and was praised for its deep storytelling, stellar performances, and minimal promotional noise.
