A two-year-old Indian boy, Samarth Bagari has come into public view for his unusual friendship with monkeys. Samarth, who is from southern India, first came into view after he was discovered playing with about 20 grey langurs alone.

His uncle, Barama Reddy said he was initially afraid that the boy will be hurt by the monkeys that after seeing them come to play with him day after day and seeing him share his food with them, he relaxed.

According to him, “Even if he is sleeping, they first wake him up, and then sit with him for an hour or two.”

Since then, the boy has become an object of interest in his village. Amazingly, another child who was placed beside him almost got attacked by the monkeys.

The boy who is still yet to talk makes sounds similar to the monkeys’ and because of this, “Everyone thinks that he is special and they are communicating with each other and can understand what is being said,” Reddy said.

Mogwli is a fictional wild child who was the one of the main characters in the book, The Jungle Boy.
