Iconic venue transitions to localized model after a decade in Nigeria; introduces interim lifestyle platform ‘Curate’.

Hard Rock Cafe Lagos today announced it will discontinue its international franchise model after 10 years of operation. Management is transitioning the landmark destination into an independently operated concept tailored specifically to the realities and opportunities of the Nigerian market. The venue will complete its official debranding by the end of June 2026.

A thorough business review prompted the pivot, citing a changing economic landscape. High franchise fees, a depreciating Naira, and rising compliance costs impacted the venue’s long-term commercial viability. Management

stated that other contributing factors determined the urgent need for greater flexibility, responsiveness, local adaptation, and control over the business’s future direction. This newly gained operational independence will grant the financial flexibility and agility required to swiftly adjust pricing, menu offerings, and entertainment strategies to suit local consumer trends.

During this transition, the venue will operate under an interim experiential platform named Curate – Food • Music • Culture. This lifestyle destination will keep the space active and culturally relevant by hosting restaurant pop-ups, chef collaborations, live music, private events, and brand activations. Curate will serve as the venue’s creative hub while management develops its permanent flagship hospitality concept, scheduled to debut within the coming year.

“We are incredibly proud of our decade-long

journey and the memories created in Lagos,” management said in a statement. “This transition allows us to craft original hospitality experiences built for the Nigerian and African market. We deeply thank our loyal guests, employees, and partners, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you.”
