Dry skins can be very itchy and rough at times. Often, when you have dry skin, you moisturise your face too often and you are not even sure if the moisturiser will work. However, there are some face masks you can use that will help remove dry patches off your skin and make the skin more comfortable. Below are some steps to making a face mask for dry skins:

Banana-Honey-Oat Moisturising Mask

Banana has been researched and found to be rich in vitamin A, which helps promote cell turnover to keep skin soft and flake-free. Honey helps moisturize the skin and has natural antibacterial properties to help soothe dry, itchy skin, while ground oats are a natural exfoliant that can help remove dry, dead skin cells from your face. Below are the steps in making this moisturising mask

  • Peel a banana and cut it in half horizontally. Place half of the banana in a bowl and use a fork to mash it until it’s mostly smooth.
  • Once you’ve mashed the banana, add 1 tablespoon of honey and 4 tablespoons of ground oats to the bowl. Use a spoon to mix the ingredients until the mask has a uniform consistency.
  • If the mixture is too thick, you can add milk to it.
  • When the mask is fully mixed, use your fingers to carefully apply it to your face and neck. Let it sit on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes so the ingredients can work effectively.
  • When your 15 to 20 minutes are up, wash the mask off with warm water.
  • Use a washcloth to remove the mask if it won’t rinse easily, but be gentle to avoid irritating your skin.
  • Avoid using the towel you use on the remaining part of the body on the face.

After washing off, you can use your moisturiser or natural oil like coconut oil.
