Bose Ogulu, manager and mother of Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, has shared how she manages the music star’s social media moments, admitting that she occasionally has to intervene physically to curb his online outbursts. Known globally as Mama Burna, she made this known during an interview. Like many high-profile entertainers, Burna Boy sometimes gets into high-stakes arguments and fiery fights online, sparking heated digital debates.
Ogulu explained the distinct contrast between her measured public persona and her son’s unpredictable online presence. Highlighting the delicate balance of managing a globally acclaimed artist.
She said, “You can always notice the difference between when I tweet and when Burna tweets. What I’ve come to learn is that artists like him, they’re like a tapestry. If you pull at one thread too hard, everything will unravel.”
She further noted that the same raw, intense emotions that fuel Burna Boy’s chart-topping music and passionate artistry are often the triggers behind his digital clashes.
Rather than condemning his temperament, she emphasized the need for patience while actively stepping in behind the scenes to control damage.
“So you must make allowances for this person being himself, because it’s the same emotion that what you love about him comes from. Within, we do what we can. I usually grab his phone from him anytime he goes wild on Instagram Live,” she said.
