‘It was a free show’: Burna Boy responds to stage Incident
Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy, has broken his silence regarding the backlash he received for storming off the stage during the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 event.
The 33-year-old singer addressed the incident today, January 1, 2024, through an Instagram Story, shedding light on his perspective.
He wrote: “It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost an hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy new year.”

The controversial moment occurred when a fan unexpectedly jumped on stage during Burna Boy’s performance, prompting security to remove the individual swiftly.
Burna Boy then left the stage, leaving fans divided between support and criticism.
The #GreaterLagosCountdown2025, a free public event, drew thousands of fun seekers and marked a festive end to the year in the state.
