Jay-Z becomes the most awarded rapper in Grammy history
Sean Carter, popularly known as Jay-Z, has officially cemented his legacy as the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history.
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 2, 2025, the New York hip-hop mogul secured his 25th Grammy, surpassing Kanye West’s record of 24 wins. His latest award came from his contribution to Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’, which took home Album of the Year.
This victory marked a significant moment not just for Jay-Z but also for Beyoncé, as it was her first-ever Album of the Year win—despite being the most awarded artist in Grammy history. Ironically, Jay-Z had previously called out the Recording Academy for never giving Beyoncé the coveted prize, despite her numerous accolades.

In addition to his Grammy triumph, Jay-Z has continued to make waves in music. In 2024, he collaborated with Nas, DMX, and Snoop Dogg on the track ‘Bricks’. Reports also suggest that he is working on a new album, with hints of a potential diss track leaked from a private Roc Nation event.
Beyond his Grammy wins, Jay-Z’s influence extends far beyond music. He has received industry honours like the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award (2018) and the Global Impact Award (2024).
With 25 Grammys and counting, Jay-Z’s reign as the most decorated rapper in history continues—proving once again why he remains one of the greatest of all time.
