The United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Monday (May 20) its four new Goodwill Ambassadors.

Among the named ambassadors is Lady Gaga’s mom, Cynthia Germanotta. As the ambassador for mental health, she aims to promote healthier lives, improved workforces and overall better mental health across the globe, through her foundation – Born This Way.

Gemanotta took to Twitter to reflect on her new role: “I’m honored to serve as @WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Mental Health and to work alongside @DrTedros + his extraordinary team to ensure mental #healthforall is a global priority,” she wrote. “We face many challenges but there are even more reasons for hope. It’s #TimeToAct, together.”

Celebrating her mom’s new role, Gaga took to Twitter to share her excitement: “I’m so proud of @momgerm for being asked to serve as Goodwill Ambassador for @WHO,” Gaga mirrored in her own tweet. “The goal of @btwfoundation is to bring awareness to mental health and empower everyone to create a kinder and braver world, and this is a huge part of that.”

Alisson Becker of the Brazilian national and Liverpool soccer teams and medical doctor Dr. Natalia Loewe Becker were announced as ambassadors for health promotion, and former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, will serve as the ambassador for health workforce.
