Meghan Thee Stallion Becomes First Female To Cover Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue

Megan Thee Stallion is making history, today, the “Savage” rapper was revealed as one of three new cover stars for Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue, making her the first female rapper to ever front the famous publication.

Megan took to Instagram to share the history-making feat with her fans and followers, as well as the stunning cover image.

“REAL SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT EDITION COVER MODEL SHIT!!! Thee first female rapper on the cover of @si_swimsuit,” she shared on the platform.

In its feature article, Sports Illustrated expressed its excitement for having the hip-hop star on its cover. The article reads:

Megan Thee Stallion doesn’t stay in one lane. In fact, she encourages everyone to be in multiple, and this is what we love about her. She captured the world’s attention with her music and style, but what caught our attention was her unfiltered approach to the way she makes you think… Megan is a vessel for change, and we are honored to have her on our 2021 cover.

With having already attained career-defining achievements, Megan Thee Stallion continues to find new ways to shine.

Making history has become a frequent occurrence for the “Hot Girl Summer” artist. Earlier this year, she became the first female rapper since Lauryn Hill to take home the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and her hit collab with Cardi B, “WAP,” instantly broke streaming records after its original release.

According to Billboard, Megan is also the first woman to have three number-one streaming songs within the same year, those tracks being “Savage” featuring Beyoncé, “WAP,” and “Body.”

Megan reflected on her growing rap legacy for Harper’s BAZAAR’s March 2021 issue, saying:
