After fading from the spotlight, following the dissolution of the defunct P-Square’s Northside label, Oriero Oviemuno, professionally known as Muno, has returned to the music scene, with a vibrant sophomore dubbed, “4+1”. With the new record, Muno unveils a maturation of his artistry, inspired by his long-endured hiatus from the industry.

The Edo-indigene weaves a playlist around the themes of love, heartbreak, dedication, unity and self-confidence, creating an inspiring record that energizes the youthful mind. Stewing his soft vocals with Afro-pop melodies, Muno peels out layers of soul within this record.

“The inspiration came from a place of willingness to fulfil my God given talent first of all, even though at the time I was trying to beat the odds and unforeseen circumstances of staying away for such a long time. I felt the urge to express myself fully and to satisfy my fans who patiently waited,” he said.

Muno, who is currently signed to Champion One Entertainment, is a vibrant emerging act, with an intense passion for making music. While studying for his first degree in Covenant University, the Lagos-bred singer began his journey into music. “First of all, I didn’t choose music; music chose me. I had already started having ideas that I couldn’t express, since the age 4, but I think I made a concrete choice in my teen years to actively pursue it and it became real when I got into the university,” he said.

For the Afro-pop singer, who grew up listening to Boys II Men, Mario, Usher, among others, Muno continues to expand his discography with savoury hits, hoping to feature the likes of Wizkid, Kizz Daniel, Tuface Idibia, and Adele, someday.

With 4+1, which is largely borne out of his personal experiences, Muno hopes to inspire other young people, especially those “experiencing drama in their relationships”, serving as a reminder that love can overcome even the most uncomfortable of times.

While he is currently finalizing plans for release of the accompanying videos which were all shot by Clarence Peters, Muno’s 4+1 is currently gaining streaming numbers across digital platforms. For him, these efforts are layers of a broader goal of “affecting his generation positively” with his music and other facets of his life.
