On a cool Saturday afternoon in Rotherham, United Kingdom, the steady pulse of African drums filled the Springwell Community Centre as Nigerian cultural educator and percussionist Adeniyi Adekoya—widely known as Adeniyi Drumz—led a transformative youth workshop titled Unshaken: The Power of Faith & Drums.

Held on May 3, 2025, the event welcomed teenagers and young adults from across the local community for an afternoon of rhythm, self-expression, and purposeful dialogue. Far more than a music class, the workshop offered a safe space where creativity met faith and self-discovery.

Designed to build confidence and help participants find their voice, Unshaken featured hands-on drumming lessons, collaborative rhythm exercises, and engaging group discussions. For many attendees, it was a fresh opportunity to be heard, supported, and inspired.

Rooted in themes of faith, identity, and creativity, the workshop forms part of a broader vision Adeniyi Drumz has been nurturing through his cultural outreach in the UK. Renowned for his innovative use of traditional African percussion to foster dialogue and unity, his past initiatives—such as Drums, Dialogue & Rhythm Exchange —have consistently focused on youth empowerment and cross-cultural education.

“This is more than drumming,” said Adeniyi. “It’s about giving young people the tools to express themselves, believe in their purpose, and be proud of where they come from.”
