Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay has returned to social media, dropping her husband’s surname, Idibia.

In a new Instagram post shared on Thursday, the actress simply signed off as “Annie Uwana Macaulay,” dropping Idibia, the surname she took after marrying music legend 2Baba.

Annie shared a picture of a flower and poured out her gratitude to those who stood by her during what seemed like a tough period in her life.

“To my family, to my friends who came through for me, the support system I have now, all my amazing family HERE and all over the world. God bless you for the outpouring of love…”

She went further to express deep appreciation and love to everyone who supported her, ending the message with her full maiden name.

Before the post, Annie had cleared out every single content on her Instagram page earlier on Thursday, giving the impression of a fresh start and emotional reset.

This move comes just days after her estranged husband 2Baba, born Innocent Idibia, was spotted shopping at a high-end store with Edo lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru.

Back in January, the African Queen singer had shocked fans by revealing on Instagram, “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now and currently filed for divorce.”

Though he deleted the statement later, he didn’t take back his words. In a live video, 2Baba confirmed everything and said, “No one hacked my account. I said what I said. I come in peace.”

Since the announcement, the celebrity couple unfollowed each other on social media. Then in February, a video of 2Baba allegedly proposing to Natasha Osawaru went viral, stirring heavy reactions from fans.

Annie, 40, who rose to fame through her role in “Blackberry Babes” and later became known as 2Baba’s wife, had stayed quiet during all the drama.

Reports even surfaced that she had checked into a rehab centre as the split took a toll on her emotionally.
