Nigerian rapper and songwriter Jude Abaga, popularly known as MI Abaga, has decried the wave of killings in Benue State, describing the ongoing attacks as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

On Monday, the Jos-born rapper took to his official X handle to express grief over the massacre that claimed over 100 lives in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to him, the loss of lives in Benue and the Middle Belt has become more than just numbers, insisting that Nigerians must not normalise the violence.

“My heart is heavy. It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed. The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics, they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart,” he wrote.

The music star added that he stood in full support with the victims, warning that the country must rise above silence and indifference.

“I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Benue. Your pain is my pain. We can’t normalise this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long,” he added.

He also paid tribute to those killed in the recent attacks, vowing they will not be forgotten.

“To those we’ve lost: we will not forget you. To those still standing, we stand with you.”

MI Abaga’s statement joins a chorus of public outcry from Nigerian entertainers and citizens who have condemned the latest round of bloodshed in Benue.

Other celebrities including 2Baba, Olamide, AY Comedian, and gospel preacher Femi Lazarus have also used their platforms to demand urgent government response.

Security agencies have yet to make official arrests or provide detailed updates as residents continue to flee affected communities.
