Firstly, a merry Christmas to you reading! The atmosphere right now around the country is exciting. And even in the entertainment capital of Lagos, it has been a downpour of concerts all week.

It is not surprising that many Nigerians want to recreate the Detty December groove of 2019, which ushered in a season of concerts, and entertainment events like never been seen before. After a COVID-19 lockdown Christmas, last year, most people are again this December, with one groove or the other up their sleeves.

Today, it even gets better, as the iconic fraternal duo, Peter and Paul Okoye – professionaly known as P-Suare – are set to shut down the city with their heavily anticipated comeback concert.

After five years of solo outings, the Afro-pop and Dancehall sensation, P-Square, are set to light up the stage at the Livespot X Festival, in Lekki, this evening. Fans are revving up to the nostalgic tunes of the twin brothers, as well as their enigmatic dance moves.

The groove basically runs all weekend, as the Grammy-nominated chanteuse, Tems, is set to headline her first show in Lagos, since the pre-pandemic era. The voice behind the viral smash, Essence, is set to hold it down on Boxing Day, tommorow, at the same venue.

Fans are typically ecstactic that this would be her first headline performance of her sophomore soundpiece, If Orange Was A Place. And if what happened at Buju’s show, on Thursday, was to repeat itself, then we are likely to see her being surprised by the Grammy-winning superstar, Wizkid, among other A-list entertainers that day.

“Livespot X Festival has always been a total festive experience for extraordinary people. LXF 2021 is the festival of the season…the perfect way to celebrate the end of the year,’’ Creative Director, Livespot 360 – the festival’s organisers – said.

Starboy Returns Home
AFTER selling out the prestigious O2 Arena, in London, three times – and within minutes, respectively – Wizkid beefed up the vibe at the Livespot X Festival, last Sunday, with his first headline show since the release of his Grammy-nominated album dubbed, Made In Lagos.

After being chaperoned in with the exciting performances from Simi, Bella Shmurda, Badboy Timz, among others, the 31-year-old singer took the crowd through a train ride of nostalgia and groove, performing his old and recent jams.

Luckily for the singer, he has successfully escaped the comic-yet-risky impluses of his eccentric fanbase, during his shows in the country so far. While his trousers were dragged to the point of tear, by an excited fan, in Abuja, he had fans fending off hefty bouncers as they dashed to the stage to hug or dance with him.

One exciting moment of his show was when he paused mid-way and broke out in a heartfelt reminiscing of his struggle days. He praised the city of Lagos for the memories and lessons he was raised with. He also gave a shoutout to Wande Coal for “housing” him during some of his struggles.

Chances are by now you have heard the viral street hop anthem, ZaZoo (Zeh) by Portable Omolami featuring Olamide. Well, ‘Big Wiz’ showed the budding singer enormous support by bringing him as an opening act on the show. The 5-minute performance was also buttered with a rain of dollars which Wizkid sprayed on Portable Omolami (Although the sprayed funds – allegedly about $3,000 – later became a subject of a heated controversy between Portable, his friend and superstar dancer, Poco Lee who picked the funds, as well as Portable’s industry guardian, Kobagidi. The gist was funds were picked up from the floor, but not all of it made it to Portable’s pockets.)

Reminiscing on his journey so far, Wizkid reiterated his love for Tems, citing how a “small boy” from Surulere could join another girl from the same Lagos to sell one million copies of their duet in America, get nominated for the Grammys, and reach the top 10 on the Billboard top 100 charts “in just a year!”

Somebody’s Son Finds Tiwa Savage!
AFTER leading the army of Nigerian women for weeks in an optimistic anthem of “Somebody’s son go find me one day (one day)/ I don dey wait don’t stay too far away!” Tiwa Savage has finally been found by someone, at her own headline show.

The award-winning singer kicked off the Livespot X Festival last Friday, December 17, where the audience ‘awwwwed’ her to cloud 9 as her six-year-old son Jamil Balogun surprised her on stage with a bouquet of flowers.

The show has been a breathtaking experience, with Tiwa Savage performing live all night, with the UK-based Nigerian band, The Compozers.

Draped in a black gown, Savage lit up the night with an angelic tribute to Sound Sultan, when she performed the dirge, Hallelujah. The song was also dedicated to other deceased entertainers and loved ones that she had lost including her late dad, her bosom friend, Obama 44, Baba Suwe, Syvlvest Omoroni, amongst others.

Her standout performances include her renditions of 49-99, My Darling, Keys to the City, Girl O, ROmantic, among others. The crowd also enjoyed groovy performances from her friends Ladipoe, MI, Lojay, Dice, Reekado Banks, Arya Starr, Ruger, BlackBonez, Portable and Mayorkun, among others.

Tiwa’s friends, including key dignitaries, also came out to support her. Among the few that graced the occasion were Toke Makinwa, Denrele Edun, Ric Hassani, Denrele Edun, Agbani Darego, Ladiva Millen, Osas Ighodaro, Iyabo Ojo, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, Layole Oyatogun, Sophia Momodu, among others.

Spinall Spins Off Party Of Dreams
SPINALL made history as the first Nigerian DJ to ever host a headline concert at the Livespot X festival with his Party of Dreams. The show kicked off on a high note with hype men Sohoddy and Jimmie stringing up the fans excited.

DJs Ritzy, Lambo, Kappucino, DJ Nana, and Celebrity Kiss were the four female DJs on the wheels of steel who treated the crowd to good music. One of the major performances was from the South African based Namibian DJ, Kappucino who treated the audience to a variety of amapiano sounds.

Others present included DJs Sose, Big N, Eni Money, Prince, Dotwine, Hazan and Embassey also wowed the audience to blasts from the past, hip pop, Naija sounds with performances from Buju, Wurld, King Perry, Ajebo hustlers, Adekunle Gold and Afro B.

The man of the moment, DJ Spinall, took to the stage to thank the fans for showing up for him, he said appreciated the importance of having God and good friends and appreciated his friends for showing up for him.
