Princess Ntuk Williams, popularly known as DJ PrettyPlay, has unveiled plans to make history with a 288-hour club DJ marathon in a bid to set a new Guinness World Record.
The marathon is scheduled to begin on March 3, 2025, at Bay Lounge, Lekki, Lagos. Beyond breaking records, the feat is designed as a bold statement of endurance, resilience, and passion for music.DJ PrettyPlay’s journey into entertainment began long before she stepped behind the turntables.
Raised in the vibrant soundscape of Lagos, she first built her creative foundation as a dancer before transitioning fully into DJing in 2014. Her dedication and growth have since earned her appearances on major platforms, including Big Brother Naija and the AFRIMMA Awards.
Explaining the motivation behind the 288-hour target, DJ PrettyPlay described the number as symbolic. “It represents endurance and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
It’s a daunting commitment, but it reflects my dedication to pushing boundaries and redefining what’s possible for women in the industry,” she said.
She noted that choosing Lagos as the venue was intentional, describing the city’s energy, challenges, and cultural diversity as central to shaping her artistry. “Lagos has been instrumental to my growth. Its pulse will be my driving force throughout this marathon,” she added.
For the DJ, the attempt goes beyond personal achievement. It is aimed at inspiring young women in music, challenging industry norms, and creating opportunities for emerging talents. “This is about legacy—resilience, creativity, and empowerment,” she said.
Looking beyond the marathon, DJ PrettyPlay revealed plans to establish a DJ academy, launch a record label, and embark on global tours to promote African sounds worldwide. The 288-hour DJ marathon, she stressed, is more than a record attempt—it is a movement, and one poised to capture global attention.
