Music executive and performer D’Prince has moved to clarify widespread misconceptions regarding the ownership and structure of his entertainment imprint, Jonzing World, distancing it from Mavin Records and its parent company, Mavin Global Holdings.

In a statement addressing the confusion, D’Prince made it clear that Jonzing World Entertainment Limited is an independent entity he personally registered under Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2018. The label itself, Jonzing World, was founded in 2019 and has no corporate or structural affiliation with Mavin Global Holdings or Mavin Records, contrary to popular belief.

“Jonzing World Entertainment Limited is an entertainment company I registered myself in 2018 under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The company serves as the parent company of Jonzing World, a record label I founded in 2019, with zero connection with Mavin Global Holdings or Mavin Records,” said D’Prince.

The clarification follows persistent speculation about the nature of the relationship between Jonzing World and Mavin Records, fuelled largely by the breakout success of Rema, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated global music exports. Rema’s career has been a collaborative effort between both labels, prompting assumptions about a merger or subsidiary arrangement.

Speaking to HipTV last year, D’Prince acknowledged that Rema’s contract involved a partnership between the two entities, with both contributing to the artiste’s management and promotion. He noted that the scope of Rema’s success demanded the resources and expertise of multiple players working in synergy.

He explained further, “Given the scale of Rema’s career, multiple hands have to come together to ensure its success.” However, he maintained that this partnership should not be misinterpreted as an organisational merger between the labels.

D’Prince also outlined the internal structure of his company, which includes Jonzing World Publishing, focused on music publishing and licensing; Jonzing World Production, which oversees creative output; and Jonzing World Management, responsible for artiste representation and business operations.

While D’Prince rose to prominence under the Mavin umbrella and shares familial ties with Mavin founder Don Jazzy, he remains firm in his assertion that Jonzing World is a separate and independently run company.
