How Mohbad’s death improved my life — Singer’s father, Aloba
Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, has stated that his life has improved since his son’s passing.
In a recent interview with media personality Akin Abolade (Mrlilgaga), Aloba explained that while Mohbad had planned to support him, his untimely death led to an outpouring of support from others.
“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend,” Aloba said.
“He had it in plan to do many things for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me. Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me, and it is beyond ordinary. So, it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now. Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them.”
Aloba also addressed insinuations regarding Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family. He stated, “They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mould the blocks on it, which was later used to bury him.”
He further revealed that Mohbad had planned to purchase a house for him after completing a tour, for which he had already fully paid, two weeks before his death.
Aloba shared that Mohbad’s birth inspired him to pursue a singing career after money from the naming ceremony was stolen.
He added that his late son even served as his backup singer at the age of one. Aloba, who is a carpenter, singer, and pastor (though without a church), said Mohbad had promised to build him one.
During the interview, Aloba showed off his new block industry, truck, and Toyota Highlander, all gifts from people who were moved by his son’s death.
He also revealed releasing approximately nine songs since Mohbad’s passing.
Mohbad died in Lagos on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26. Following his death, a nurse reported to have administered a tetanus vaccine to him was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on September 19, 2023, and found to be unlicensed.
