Nigerian musician, King Enakpodia, has won the prestigious 2024/2025 edition of Delta Indigenous Musician of the Year award.
The award recognises the outstanding contributions of King Enakpodia towards the preservation and modernisation of Urhobo traditional music, which establishes him as a cultural icon and a beacon of indigenous artistry in the Niger Delta region.
His latest award is the icing on the cake of his success stories, defining his career as a custodian of Urhobo heritage after he won the prestigious title of Delta Indigenous Musician of the Year, 2024.
One of the high points of his music career was hosting the Lagos Edition of Urhobo Village Meeting, held on April 21 this year
The high network event showcased Urhobo culture, drawing attendees from across Nigeria and the diaspora as guests were treated to traditional music, dance, and comedy performances from some of Nigeria’s finest entertainers, including Alibaba, Gordons, and comedian Whalemouth, among others.
King Enakpodia expressed deep appreciation to all who came out to celebrate the rich Urhobo heritage, saying: ” The gathering not only entertained but also reaffirmed a collective pride in Urhobo identity, values, and traditions”, said King Enakpodia.
