Outsydah Redefines Afro House with ‘Marina’ and ‘Lumora’
Outsydah, born Omowunmi Foluke Oduyiga, is at the forefront of Nigeria’s vibrant Afro House circuit. Her latest singles, ‘Marina’ and ‘Lumora’, have showcased her ability to fuse rich cultural heritage with cutting-edge global rhythms.
Two New Singles
In January, Outsydah released ‘Marina’ and ‘Lumora’, highlighting her musical versatility and creative brilliance.
On ‘Lumora’ music journalist and pop culture curator, Ayomide Tayo says “It is an energetic track that captures the essence of Afro-house. The beats are strong, with smooth synths and piano riffs layered in.

“At times, the beats take too much of the centre stage, making it difficult for the melody to shine through and for the listener to fully appreciate the track’s depth.
“Finding a better balance between the beats and melody would allow both elements to complement each other more effectively. Introducing more variety in the arrangement could keep the track fresh and prevent it from sounding too predictable.”
On the second single, he states “‘Marina’ starts with a steady groove that builds into a strong instrumental track, urging you to relinquish your inhibitions on the dancefloor.

“Towards the end, it bleeds into a steady hum that lets you take a break from the rhythmic energy flowing through your body a few seconds ago.”
He also points out the slight flaw in the track. “‘Marina’, however, goes down a predictable lane. Although the track boasts an impressive technical structure, it feels a bit predictable.
“Switching up the usual song structure could make the track more unpredictable and keep the listener engaged in new and surprising ways.
The track’s closing moments papers this crack by providing a soothing and reflective pause.”
However, both offerings from Outsydah deserve a spot in your playlist.
A Global Sound with Deep Cultural Roots
“Lumora is a reflection of my creative journey—an ode to my roots and an invitation to experience the energy and rhythm of my world,” Outsydah explains.
Her music combines soulful melodies with contemporary beats that honour her African roots. While her sights are focused on the global scene, she continues to explore more unique African rhythms.

To stand out from the pack of Afro House DJs, she could use instruments from different parts of the world to make her sound unique and exotic.
This would deepen her cultural authenticity and define her unique identity on the world stage.
Who Is Outsydah?

However, it’s worth considering how these songs connect with people beyond the Afro House scene. Exploring broader themes and stories could help her reach a wider audience and grow her fan base.
Tayo says, “Outsydah’s music combines cultural stories with innovative sounds. She’s already made great progress in Afro House, and by accepting feedback and improving her craft, she’ll continue to lead in the global music scene.
“By experimenting with new sounds, Outsydah can strengthen her position as one of the most exciting artists today.”
