Some Artists Don’t Respect Their Record Labels -Chase Music Producer

Chase music Nigeria producer, Jinmi Adbul has commented on the issues of record labels and their signees always having issues when it’s time to go their separate ways, highlighting some of these artists don’t respect the hierarchy of their record labels.

He revealed this while reacting to a question about the recent issues of Mohbad and the Naira Marley owned record label.

“Some of these Artists also can be blamed for this”, he continued, they don’t respect the hierarchy of the labels and structures, the labels are yet to recoup their investment, the general mentality is that the labels is always wrong, but sometimes the artist is carried away by fame, not productive and don’t respect the hierarchy of the labels” often times this cost disparity between the artist and the label.

The song producer, also talked about the death of rising star, Mohbad, “I don’t know Mohbad personally even though we have met on different shows and time, and his death is really troubling” Mohbad has been complaining since last year, through his social media, and for him to have the courage to come out and say all these as an artist, even in his musics as well, we could have taken a cue from the alarms he was raising”

He continued, by saying, “I have been in the music industry for over a decade, and I founded “Chase music in 2017, and the thing about Ideal label artist relationship is, there are major labels and independent labels, while Major labels are international and work according to ethics, obligations and what to do and what not are itemized in a code of ethics, 

Independent labels on the other hand are smaller labels like the marloans, chocolate cities, and BMW, they are found by individuals and work with less ethical structures, no rule binding them, so I can understand why the issues surrounding them”

Jinmi Andul, also talked about the various challenges and examples of artists who have separated in troubling ways, and fights, highlighting the example of the likes of, Don-Jazzy and Wande Cole, Maydee and P-Square, Kiss-Daniel, Vector and his record label Wise G
