After leaving Nigeria, American streamer, Darren Jason Watkins Jr, popularly known as iShowSpeed continued his tour to Ghana, where his visit took on a more cultural tone and has been delivering viral online moments.
One of the highlights of the Ghana stop was a traditional naming ceremony held in Akropong, within the Akuapem Traditional Area. The ceremony was performed by Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, the Omanhene of the area, who bestowed the streamer with the name Barima Kofi Akuffo.
Videos from the event showed iShowSpeed dressed in traditional attire as elders carried out the rites.
As part of the ceremony, alcohol and water were dipped into his mouth, a symbolic act signifying truthfulness and integrity, a reminder to always speak plainly and honestly.
He also visited key cultural and historical sites in Accra, including the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he posed beside the statue of Ghana’s first president.
Food also got into the conversation. During a livestream, iShowSpeed sampled Ghanaian jollof rice, the moment reignited the long-standing rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria over whose jollof is superior. After tasting the jollof rice, he declared that he preferred Nigerian jollof. The comment quickly spread across social media, attracting reactions from viewers from both countries.
The Ghana visit also produced another viral moment after a video showing iShowSpeed receiving a massage circulated online. Nigerian singer Davido, reposted the clip on his Instagram story, adding a joking caption addressed to his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke.
The Ghana leg of the tour followed days of intense activity in Nigeria, where iShowSpeed’s arrival in Lagos drew large crowds and viral moments. Across both countries, the streamer’s presence has continued to blur the line between entertainment, cultural exchange and internet spectacle.
With over 45.8 million followers on Instagram and more than 50 million subscribers on YouTube, iShowSpeed has grown into one of the most influential digital creators of his generation.
The scale of his global reach was recently acknowledged by Rolling Stone magazine, which named him the Most Influential Creator of 2025, while Forbes estimates his net worth at about $20 million.
