Good wigs are expensive nowadays so it’s important that with or without our vendors, we can still be sure to keep our hair— especially bone-straight silky, sleek and classy always. See a step-by-step guide on how to wash your bone straight— making it just as silky as when new.

Step 1: Prep the wig

Before anything else, gently detangle your wig. Use a wide-tooth comb or a wig brush, starting from the tips and working up to the roots. This prevents breakage and keeps the hair sleek. Avoid pulling as it can damage the hair.

Step 2: Rinse gently

Fill a basin with lukewarm water (not hot!) and hold your wig at the base. Let the water run from the top down, keeping the strands in line to avoid any tangles. Submerge the wig gently, but don’t rub or twist it – bone-straight wigs love a gentle touch.

Step 3: Shampoo

Pour a small amount of sulphate-free, gentle shampoo into the water. Swirl it to create some suds, then dip your wig in. Use your fingers to run the shampoo from the roots to the ends in a single direction. Avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or circular motions; we’re going for smooth here, not frizzy.

Step 4: Rinse and condition

Rinse the shampoo thoroughly with clean, lukewarm water until it’s free of any soap. Now, apply a conditioner. Run the conditioner through the wig with your fingers, especially focusing on the ends. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes to soak up all that goodness, then rinse completely. Your wig should feel silky to the touch!

Step 5: Pat dry – No rubbing

Lay a towel flat and gently place the wig on it. Lightly pat it to remove excess water – avoid rubbing, as this can mess with the wig’s natural alignment. Then, carefully transfer it to a dry towel to air-dry.

Step 6: Comb and air-dry

Once your wig is damp, detangle again from tips to roots with your wide-tooth comb. Place it on a wig stand to air-dry completely. Avoid heat styling until it’s fully dry – rushing this step can affect its texture.

Step 7: Finish with a silky serum

Once dry, apply a tiny bit of serum or wig-friendly oil to the ends for that extra shine. Don’t go overboard; a little goes a long way to keep it sleek and smooth.
